How does Softonic Search work?

Softonic Search is represented via search.softonic.com. The first thing that you are likely to notice is that the tool is presented as the Web Search powered by Softonic and verified by Avast. The search provider presents such search tools as Home (search.softonic.com), Softonic (en.softonic.com), Softonic App (alldevices.softonic.com), Softonic for Windows and Softonic Games (games.en.softonic.com). Needless to say, the tool is meant to promote different products and services of the same company. If you have downloaded the application or agreed to the optional installation thinking that the Softonic Search will help you browse the web, it is most likely that you are disappointed in the presented services.

Does Softonic Search present ads?

Besides promoting Softonic products, Softonic Search also presents banner advertisements by the affiliate third party advertisers. We have not discovered clearly misleading or unreliable advertisements; however, this does not mean that you will face no risks when clicking on them. The clicks you perform could redirect you to unfamiliar sites and present more unfamiliar products and services. What is more, the flashy banners ads take a lot of space therefore are quite disturbing. Needless to say, these are presented in return of commission, and this is why most computer users are not happy about seeing them. What is more, the search tool and the cookies installed when visiting other promoted sites could be used to spy on you, and this is suspicious.

How to remove Softonic Search?

We certainly do recommend having Softonic Search deleted from the browsers. You also should remove the Softonic Toolbar if it gets installed onto Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer and you do not wish to keep in running anymore. These applications are not considered to be dangerous; however, they are not that useful either. You can use the manual removal guides to delete the undesirable software. Do you want to keep them running? This is up to you; however, virtual security experts recommend keeping away from the presented advertisements and installing authentic security software to ensure full-time protection.
