What is Webcake?

Webcake is a browser add-on that features a great range of options, which, according to the developers of the application is supposed to enhance your browsing experience. The application works on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, and it has its official website getwebcake.com, not to mention the fact that the plug-in is also promoted on other websites, including software.informer.com and some others. Moreover, the application can be attached to the installers of free programs, which implies that before clicking the “Next” or “Accept” button, you should read the license agreement.

How does Webcake work?

We recommend that you remove Webcake, which may also be called adware, as its features may cause adverse consequences.  For example, the application compares price while shopping online and displays coupons and offers.  When Webcake is installed, in the upper right corner of the screen you should find a See Similar button which displays the offers related to what you are looking for.

Webcake displays advertisements which are likely to pop up at the bottom of the screen. Moreover, if you get interested in some word found on a particular website, Webcake enables you to search for that word. It is enough to highlight it and a small bar suggesting four options appears. Those options are Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, dictionary.com, and Twitter.

You will also come across inline advertisements, which are ads that appear when you hover the mouse over a hyperlinked word. Such advertisements are likely to be found on YouTube, Ask, eHow, and some other websites.

All the features are described in the license agreement of Webcake, but if you have not read it and want to remove it, do not hesitate and do it right know. The ads that you are provided with are presented to help webmasters drive more traffic to their websites and earn money. Ignore those advertisements as they may try to lure you into buying some worthless products. If you are required to enter your personal details, such as email or home address, ignore the requirement and remove the unwanted application.
