What is Webalta.ru?
What would you do if your browsers were modified without your permission? You probably would try to fix the problem. Unfortunately, removing Webalta.ru from the browsers and the operating system requires time, knowledge, and skills. The problem is that many computer users give up thinking that nothing can be done. What is worse, users start trusting this infection and using it as a regular search tool. This is about the worst thing that you can do because any browser hijacker is an infection that can put your virtual security at serious risk. Because most hijackers are created to mimic reputable search tools, users often see no harm in using them, but that is not the case. Do you want to learn what kinds of problems you will risk facing if you do not eliminate this hijacker? If you do, continue reading.
How does Webalta.ru act?
The clandestine Webalta.ru works as a toolbar on Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers. Fortunately, Firefox blocks this infection, which should signal that it cannot be trusted. Despite this, both browsers can be modified to represent this unreliable search tool via homepage and default search provider. What users do not realize is that this hijacker can change browser shortcut settings. If these settings are not restored, it will be impossible for you to replace Webalta.ru with the desired search tool! Another thing that users do not see is how many registry entries this hijacker creates. If you do not clean the Registry properly, the infection might regenerate and continue tormenting you. Of course, not all users are experienced enough to clean the Registry by themselves. In fact, they could do more harm than good by messing with the Windows Registry.
Despite being a malicious browser hijacker, Webalta.ru might be very attractive to you. It allows you to access the latest news, social networking sites, weather forecasts, and web search from one single page, which is very comfortable. Unfortunately, besides providing links to seemingly harmless sites, this hijacker also injects ads that cannot be trusted. Whether you see these ads on the homepage or mixed in with the search results, you have to make sure you do not click on them. Some of these ads could be harmless, but others could be used to scam you and expose you to drive-by download attacks. If you want to avoid this – and we are sure that you do – you must get rid of this hijacker ASAP.
