What is Trezaa?

Trezaa is an adware application that displays suspicious pop-ups from third-party partners. Where does Trezaa come from?

Our researchers at Anti-spyware-101.com confirm that the application comes bundled with other software, and most of the bundled programs are downloaded from unreliable file-sharing websites. If you occasionally download software from similar sites, you may have launched an installer that was bundled with Trezaa. Usually, users accept these bundled applications as they either do not notice anything suggested on the setup wizard or they do not expect it to be adware, a browser hijacker or a potentially unwanted program. Programs like these may have misleading descriptions. For example, Trezaa claims to be a useful application that offers a price comparing widget and a function that would automatically fix any web address error or typo. How does Trezaa work?

As you install the adware, it starts to show pop-ups with ads on the Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browsers. Such ads should have Trezaa’s title on them and a question mark. If you click on it, you will be redirected to a website that contains the adware’s Privacy Policy and End User License Agreement documents. No doubt that not many users would install an application that displays such statements on its Privacy Policy: “When you use the Application you will be displayed advertisements provided by third parties. If you elect to interact with any of the advertisements displayed to you, then those advertisers may collect information about you and/or your online activities on other websites through cookies, web beacons, and/or other similar technologies.” Trezaa creators claim that they do not review, approve or warrant the websites they promote. It means that every time you click an ad you take some risks. This adware has no control on the websites it promotes, so it cannot guarantee that the site you enter will not be harmful or will not collect your private or sensitive information, e.g. your name, email, telephone number, etc. In cyber criminals’ hands, such information could be used in attempts to scam you.
