StormCloud

What is StormCloud?

StormCloud is an extension for your Chrome browser that you should not install. Even though the services that the program promises seem to be alluring, you need to make sure that the program does not enter your operating system. More importantly, you need to make sure that you do not pay money for the services of StormCloud, because they are completely worthless. If you do decide to use the Pro version, you will have to pay from 0.99 to 2.99USD, and the program does not deserve one cent. According to our malware researchers at Anti-Spyware-101.com, the application does not fulfill its promises regardless of which version you install, and so we recommend removing StormCloud as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). You can read the report to learn how the application works, or you can go straight to the “How to remove StormCloud” section to learn how to get rid of the PUP.testtest 100% FREE spyware scan and

How does StormCloud work?

The official download page for StormCloud is getstormcloud.com. Even though the site does not offer a direct download link, it does provide links to the Windows Phone Store (0.99USD), the Chrome Web Store (free unless you choose the Pro version for 1.99USD), and the Ubuntu Store (2.99USD). If you choose to download the free Chrome extension, you will be presented with a notification indicating that the program can read and change data on certain weather-related websites. As mentioned before, StormCloud requires removal, so you should not even think about installing it. Nonetheless, if you download the app, you will realize that you need to delete the app sooner or later. The main reason why computer users choose to delete StormCloud is because the program is buggy and does not work the way it should. Basically, if you do not remove the program, it will end up using resources for no good reason.

Even though StormCloud was proven to be useless in our internal lab, our next finding was much more disconcerting. It has been discovered that those users who remove StormCloud often have to delete other programs. This happens in those cases when the PUP is installed via a bundle. If you have downloaded the app when downloading other software, it has come with a bundle, and we recommend analyzing all apps associated with StormCloud, even if they are only associated by the common installer. If you find that these programs are unreliable, useless, or, worst of all, malicious, you need to remove them right away.
