How to Remove Security Toolbar (Removal Instructions)
What is Security Toolbar? (Scan your PC for Security Toolbar with SpyHunter)
Security Toolbar (Security Toolbar 7.1) is a malicious toolbar known to supposedly get rid of spyware. Security Toolbar infects your computer with the help of Zlob. Once installed, Security Toolbar may show warning messages on your System Tray informing you that your computer is infected with spyware. These fake balloon messages may be titled:
“Critical System Error”
“Your computer is infected”
“System Alert”
“Security Alert”
“Trojan-Spy.win32@mx”
“Virus Alert”
“W32.Myzor.fk@yf”
“Spyware.Cyberlog-X”
If you click on any of the messages displayed, you’ll be lured into downloading rogue applications. Moreover, Security Toolbar may hijack your browser and set websites that sell rogue software (such as asafehomepage.com).

What is a Trojan?
Security Toolbar is a Trojan.
A Trojan is a malicious and destructive code that is embedded in what appears to be legitimate or harmless software, but then it hijacks your computer and quickly spreads to do it’s damage, such as ruining the files on your hard disk. A common and most treacherous type of Trojan is a program that claims to remove viruses and spyware from your computer but instead installs the spyware onto your computer. A Trojan is similar to a Backdoor and may be widely redistributed as part of a computer virus.

I got infected with Security Tool a few months ago. By starting in Safe Mode with networking, I was able to get control of my computer. In my case, it had actully placed an icon on my desktop. By putting the cusor over the icon, the file location was revealed. I went to that location, which happened to be in the Documents and Settings folder and deleted two different files that were identified with number strings. I also disabled a startup file in MSCONFIG that was related to the trojan.
This allowed me to start the computer normally, but the computer continued to run painfully slow. I then went to Microsoft Onecare site and did a free scan and registry repair. Since then the computer has been like new.
