A Browser Helper Object, also known as BHO, is a DLL module designed as a plugin for your browser to provide added functionality. BHOs allows program developers to monitor and control IE browser. When you open your browser, it reads the registry to locate installed BHO’s and then creates them. BHO’s then have access to all the events and properties of that browsing session. Some BHOs come from legitimate programs but others are developed by spyware developers. Spyware BHOs may be installed on your computer without your knowledge and they can be used for malicious purposes like gathering info on your Internet surfing habits. You must investigate and decide whether you want to disable or re-enable BHOs.

If you see pop-up ads when you turn on your computer or when you’re not even browsing the Web, you may have Browser Helper Object or other unwanted parasites on your computer.

Slow Computer Performance

Browser Helper Object may slow down your computer’s performance because it uses your hard drive’s resources to perform it’s tasks of delivering pop-up ads and sending information (user activity, screenshots, keystroke logs) to a third-party server. If your computer is taking long periods to reboot or causing system crashes, your computer may be infected with Browser Helper Object.

New Toolbars, Desktop Shortcuts, & Unwanted Search Results
