What is a rogue anti-spyware program?

VirusProtectPro is a rogue anti-spyware program.

A rogue anti-spyware program is a program that uses spyware and other deceptive tools to trick you into purchasing their fake spyware remover. A rogue anti-spyware software will install a trojan on your machine to download the software. You’ll know you’re being tricked if you go to a website and an ad pops up that looks like a Windows notification message. Once you click on the ad’s OK button, this will direct you to the software’s website. In other cases, simply by clicking the cancel or close button can start the rogue anti-spyware program’s installation. Often, a rogue anti-spware program will display false positives (nonexistent spyware) when you use their spyware scanner. Some rogue anti-spyware software, like VirusProtectPro will automatically download the trial version without your knowledge.

How do I know I have VirusProtectPro on my computer?

Good question! The first step in detecting and removing VirusProtectPro is by asking yourself whether or not your computer has been infected. VirusProtectPro, as well as other unwanted software, can be difficult to detect and even more difficult to remove but knowing the VirusProtectPro symptoms can start you on the road to having a VirusProtectPro-free computer.

VirusProtectPro Symptoms

If you answer “yes” to any of the VirusProtectPro symptoms listed below, you may have VirusProtectPro or other types of parasites installed on your computer. Keep in mind that the symptoms of VirusProtectPro and other unwanted software infections vary.

VirusProtectPro may install without your knowledge or consent. Downloading shareware/freeware software or visiting questionable websites might lead to a VirusProtectPro infection. Once installed, VirusProtectPro can compromise your privacy by transmitting your personal information and downloading popup advertisements.

VirusProtectPro may monitor your surfing habits. Once installed, VirusProtectPro or other types of parasites can do almost anything. It can tracks which websites you visited or what terms you’ve typed. Spyware uses your information to deliver targeted ads to you. Also, data of your surfing activities may be sold to third parties.

VirusProtectPro may bombard you with popup ads. VirusProtectPro may display annoying popups while you surf the Web. You might have VirusProtectPro or other types of parasites on your computer if you see pop-up advertising, even when you are not on the Web or when your computer has been idle for many minutes.

VirusProtectPro may hijack, redirect and change your Web browser. When your Web browser’s home page unexpectedly changes without your consent or your Web browser suddenly closes or stops responding, you might be infected with VirusProtectPro. Also, in other cases new toolbars appear on your Web browser and you can’t get rid of it.

Slow computer performance. A sluggish computer is one of the easiest signs that you have been infected with VirusProtectPro. VirusProtectPro and other unwanted sofware use your computer’s resources to do its nasty tasks such as displaying popups or tracking your surfing activities. If you see your computer is slowing down dramatically or crashing a lot, you may be infected with an unwanted software.

Help! I have VirusProtectPro. What do I do?

Your privacy has been compromised and you no longer have control over your computer. What do you do? You panic and try to search for the number of a computer repair company? No! The best approach is to find a reliable anti-spyware program to run a spyware check. Once the anti-spyware software has identified the harmful files, you can easily remove all the files with a click of a button.

If you’re not computer savy and you think you’ve been infected with VirusProtectPro, download SpyHunter VirusProtectPro scanner to automatically check for any VirusProtectPro files.

Also, we recommend that you DO NOT reformat your computer, reformatting should be your last resort. Reformatting will erase the contents of your hard-drive and you’ll have to reinstall every software you had before.

  2. johnson powell Says:

this virus protectpro got me for 49.95. is there a way i can get my money back? also, this program was able to stop my internet explorer from running until i purchased the program. how do handle this situation if it happens again?

  3. GirlInterrupted Says:

    Aba,

VirusProtect Pro renewed recently. Maybe you’ve got the newest its version. Maybe the information wasn’t updated on our site. Try to search for processes and files that are mentioned above and remove them from your computer.

  4. GirlInterrupted Says:

    johnson powell,

Unfortunately, the makers of VirusProtect Pro stole your money and there is no way to get your money back through them. I advise you to contact your credit card company and demand for a chargeback. Also, let the credit card company know not to let a charge from VirusProtect Pro go through or to call you when such a transaction happens. I hope VirusProtect Pro makers does not charge your credit card in the future. Check your credit card statement in the next couple of months in case they try to charge it again. You shouldn\’t trust fake notifications on your system tray. You must be careful when you download an unknown product.

  5. Scared Student Says:

Virus Protect Pro was not detected by my spyware program and once I tried to manually remove it but it was too difficult and couldn’t be removed. Please help me, I am desperate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. GirlInterrupted Says:

    Scared Student,

Virus Protect Pro updates itself very often and tries to hide itself so that it is difficult for anti-spyware programs to catch it. Maybe you didn’t update your anti-spyware program? If so, try to scan your computer with other anti-spyware programs because the problem may be that your anti-spyware program doesn’t have the latest definitions for Virus Protect Pro yet.

  7. hileeanoid Says:

I have had this VirusProtect Pro pest infect my PC and have run the full version of SPYHUNTER which has removed most of it. However I am unable to remove the annoying icon in the system tray that alerts me that I have viruses and spyware on my system that this pest installed. How do I get rid of this. I have tried booting XP in SAFE mode and diagnostic mode but it still appears. Cannot locate the service or DLL that is causing this. Anybody had this problem and fixed it??

  8. GirlInterrupted Says:

    hileeanoid,

Did you update SpyHunter before running a scan? Click on the \”Update\” button and select \”Definitions Update\”. VirusProtect Pro is constantly changing, therefore it is important to have the latest definitions in order to remove it. If the problem continues, I suggest you go to SpyHunter\’s Spyware Helpdesk where they\’ll generate a diagnostic report and be able to send you a unique fix that will remove VirusProtect Pro from your computer. To access SpyHunter\’s Spyware Helpdesk, go to Help -> Technical Support System -> Open Support Ticket, then post your problem and they will answer you.

  9. mark Says:

It appears the following file will need to be deleted in order to not have the annoying icon pop up anymore in the system tray. this must be deleted in safe mode. also once that is removed you’ll get a run dll error regarding mywebs~/bar/2.bin.mwsbar.dll couldn’t be found. So now i’m looking into that but. at least the annoying pop ups are gone for now.

    HELLO THERE:
MY NAME IS BRENDA AND I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A VIRUS SCANNER CALLED VIRPROTECT.COM
I HAVE TRIED TO REMOVE THIS FROM MY SYSTEM BUT IT WONT LET ME. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE IT. I READ YOUR SITE BUT DON\’T UNDERSTAND HOW TO REMOVE THIS FROM MY COMPUTER. PLEASE HELP AS THIS POPUP KEEPS COMMING UP. PLEASE GET BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
    THANK YOU,
    BRENDA

  12. GirlInterrupted Says:

    Brenda Neumann,

Maybe manual VirusProtect Pro removal instructions are too difficult for you. You can download our free scanner to find the infected files. Our free scanner won’t remove the infection, but will show the locations of the infected files. By knowing the locations, you can remove these files manually. It’s better to boot your computer in Safe Mode. And it may be, that you remove only VirusProtect Pro files, but not the Trojan (it updates very often) which installs VirusProtect Pro again on your computer. If this will be not so easy to you, the only way to remove parasites from your machine is to get a reliable anti-spyware program.
