Police Virus

What is Police Virus?

Police Virus is a type of ransomware that locks you out of your desktop and then demands a fine for a crime you haven't committed. Usually Police Virus gets into your system via spam email, bulk downloads or infected websites. What you have to know is that Police Virus is a part of a huge ransomware family under the name of Ukash Virus, that encompasses infections targeted at multinational users. Other infections similar to Police Virus include FBI Moneypak, Metropolitan Police Virus, Cuerpo National De Policia Virus, Policia de Seguranasa Pablica Portuguese Virus and so on.

The most dangerous thing about Police Virus is that it literally blocks you from your desktop, and you cannot use your computer any longer. The only thing that you can see is the fake security notification which urges you to pay $100 for allegedly having violated the copyright law. That is to say, Police Virus accuses you of downloading music illegally and while you might be responsible for such acts, Police Virus DOES NOT have the jurisdiction to impose the fine upon you. Thus, the following notification has no legal grounds:

ATTENTION!

Your PC is blocked due to at least one of the specified reasons below.
You have been violating Copyright and Related Right Live (Videos, Music, Software) and illegally using or distributing copyrighted content, thus infringing Article 1, Section B, Clause B, also known as the Criminal Code of United States of America […]

When you pay the fine, your PC will get unlocked in 1 to 48 hours after the money is put into the State’s account. In case an error occurs, you’ll have to send the code by email […]

Police Virus is a THIEF. The only reason this ransomware landed on your computer is money - this malicious application expects you to pay 100 USD for the alleged crime and then come back after a short while for more. That is true - paying to Police Virus does not guarantee that this application will disappear and you will be able to use your computer again. Quite the opposite - it will definitely come back to haunt you again, asking for more money.testtesttesttest

So, in order to remove Police Virus you need to free your computer from this annoying security message. To do that, reboot the computer and press F8 while the system loads. Then, when the menu appears, navigate with the arrow keys to select Safe Mode with Networking. When the mode loads, access the Internet and download a computer security program that will remove Police Virus from your system automatically. It is better to terminate such malicious applications with reliable computer security programs, especially if you are not an experienced computer user.

However, if you want to erase Police Virus manually, boot your computer in Safe Mode, and delete all the processes, registry keys and files related to Police Virus from your computer.
