GoSave

What is GoSave?

GoSave is an adware application that comes onto your computer together with other unwanted programs. The reason this application enters your system is money, but GoSave does not try to steal your banking information as a rogue antispyware program. It is not malicious all by itself. However, cybercriminals may make use of GoSave to promote their suspicious content, and that is the main reason you should remove GoSave from your computer the moment you notice this application is running. Where does GoSave come from?

The problem is that GoSave does not travel on its own. It is not possible to download the application at the main homepage, so just like most of the adware applications from the same group GoSave gets bundled with freeware apps. It usually spreads via InstallRex installer. According to our research, users often download bundled adware applications accidentally, especially when they click fake download buttons on torrent and other p2p websites. From this we can see that GoSave is very similar to Webbing, NextCoup, RocketCoupon and other applications that usually get distributed via InstallRex, Vittalia and Amonetize installers.

What does GoSave do?

GoSave comes from an extensive family of semi-random name adware applications. It means that with every installation the application generates a different name, but it is still easy to tell it is the same program because the name more or less remains similar: GoeSave, GoSavee, GgoSavve, etc.

Upon the installation, this adware application adds extensions to Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers. It might be that that the newest versions of Google Chrome block GoSave extension. However, even if the extension is not present on your browser, the application itself is on your computer, so you need to take care of it.

If you do not remove GoSave on time, the application will start collecting information on your web browsing habits, and in the end you will be bombarded with an extensive amount of commercial advertisements. These advertisements will contain third-party content that is not reliable. Clicking GoSave ads is not recommended because you can never know what website you will access. In the worst case scenario you could easily be infected with malware.

How to remove GoSave?

Our security research specialists say that removing GoSave manually may not be enough. Some of the application’s files will remain on your computer, and there is a chance that the program might restore itself. To make sure that all of the unwanted applications have disappeared from the PC for good, scan the system with SpyHunter free scanner. When the scan is complete, invest in a powerful antispyware application that would help you safeguard the system from similar threats in the future.
