FriendsChecker

What is FriendsChecker?

FriendsChecker is an application that allows you to keep tabs on your friends, and especially those people who unfriend you on Facebook. The functionality of the application is clear and obvious, but the problem is that it comes with an additional payload, something that you would be better off without. FriendsChecker comes with third party advertisements that can compromise your system’s security and even expose you to potential malware infections. Hence, it would be for the best to remove FriendsChecker from your computer, even if you do want to keep track of people who remove from their friends list.

Where does FriendsChecker come from?

Although there is an official website for FriendsChecker at friendschecker.com, the site is currently on the maintenance which means that the application has more than one method of distribution. It would not be surprising as such applications are often bundled with other freeware you can find on such websites as cNet, Softpedia, Software Informer and so on. However, whichever method might be applied for FriendsChecker distribution, you should be able to choose whether you want the application installed or not. Therefore, whenever you are about to install new software on your computer, be sure to read all the installation steps attentively, as you might accidentally install programs you do not even need.

What does FriendsChecker do?

As you can already tell, collects information on people who remove you from your friends list on Facebook. If it happens, FriendsChecker displays a sidebar with the person’s profile icon. The application is compatible with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers, and consequently it can enable a variety of third party advertisements on these browsers. What is more, FriendsChecker might also come with additional toolbar for Firefox which you can avoid installing by removing the ticks from installation options during the app setup.

The main problem with FriendsChecker is that it requires such Facebook information access as your basic personal information, main posts and so on. Actually, a lot of applications require that, but since FriendsChecker cannot guarantee that it keeps the entire collected data safe, you should think twice before installing the application. What is more, due to the fact that FriendsChecker is free of charge, it supports commercial advertisements to “stay alive”. Therefore, when you have the application installed on your browser, you might see up to 5 pop-ups per page when you browse the Internet.

How to remove FriendsChecker?

Constant pop-ups can be both – annoying and dangerous. Thus, to protect your computer and your information from possible malicious exploitation and malware infection, you should seriously consider uninstalling FriendsChecker right now. If you are not sure whether you have any potential threats on your computer, scan the system with SpyHunter free scanner, and then invest in a powerful antimalware tool if need be.
